Penny Patch: a beginner's Quilt-Along
Welcome All - first-time quilters, experienced beginners, quilters extraordinaire! I'll be writing this quilt-along to beginners, because I love, love, love to help folks make that very first quilt. First quilts are so special! But, of course, all are most welcome.
Together we'll make Penny Patch quilts, step-by-step. This quilt-along is based on my Vintage Tangerine quilt from spring 2013 - a vintage-inspired classic! The main block in the quilt is the 4-penny patch, hence the name. It's definitely one of my favorite quilts so far and so easy to make.
You can make a super-manageable baby-sized quilt (42" x 54"), a throw quilt (60" x 72") or a twin-sized quilt (66" x 90"). I recommend the baby or throw quilt for first-timers!
You CAN do this! If you have learned to sew a straight line and are familiar with a rotary cutter (here are some tips), you have what it takes. There's no time like the present to learn to quilt!
All the steps are clearly laid out and demonstrated with a beginner in mind. No assumptions that you already know the basics. I hope you’ll discover why so many can’t get enough of this hobby!
