even more Rainbows

Thank you, dearest readers, for your messages of support. It never fails to amaze me how much love and wisdom there is in the world when we open ourselves up to it. I have lots of rainbows in my life right now. Each of you who spoke up is another. So thanks!

Speaking of rainbows, our task this month in Comfort circle is to sew one rainbow quarter log cabin block and one low volume block for our collaborative project. This month the head quilter in our quilting bee is Charlotte. She will receive blocks from all members by mail and then put them together into a quilt to be given to a good cause. Here is Charlotte’s lovely rainbow quilt concept.

Well, my table and heart were already full of rainbows today, so it seemed the perfect time to sew those up.

Ta da! Easy peasy and fun - just as sewing should be sometimes. I especially enjoyed relaxing into the improv piecing of the low volume block. That sort of thing is good for the soul.

Before we part for the weekend, I thought that you would like to see how my rainbow plus quilt has found its wings. This is the third time that I started fresh with arranging the pieces. This time, it will stick. I’ve established a dark center point and used more dark background squares throughout to visually define the plus shapes. I’m really loving it!

Now that this project is clicking for me, I can hardly stop working on it. I look forward to getting it off my design wall where it can be photographed properly with more natural light. But then again, I don’t necessarily look forward to sewing all those squares together, haha. Maybe the piecing fairy will come visit? Let me know if you have any tips for beguiling her. ;)

Have a great weekend!
