the Quilt

This is THE star quilt for confident beginners or intermediate quilters who are ready to up their star game! Starbright Stars are closely nested stars with 6 beautiful points. How does that go together without y-seams? You piece together triangles and diamonds to make triangle blocks.  Each triangle block corner becomes a point of a six-pointed star. Then join blocks and rows just like a normal quilt.

I was so jazzed about my Starbright Stars construction method that I developed it as a pattern long ago, but that pattern has only been available as a part of Angled Class. Now it’s finally released as a stand-alone pattern, and we’re going to celebrate with a sew-along!!!

Got Scraps? This pattern is definitely scrap friendly! I even use multiple fabrics for the background of this quilt, which looks great and means you can use your stash and scrap fabrics instead of buying yardage.

the Supplies

Starbright Stars is a versatile quilt. Sew it with scraps, a favorite precut bundle or mix fabrics from your stash. It can handle larger scale prints, and is fun with prints that have direction. I love this quilt with a low volume scrappy background or a background made up of multiple shades of a target solid color.

If you will be sewing monochromatic stars, the more fabric variety the better!

  • Background: 1 3/4 yard. Or for a nuanced assortment of
