new pattern release - Starbright Stars
Here comes some sparkly patchwork fun! It’s pattern release day. You’ve been waiting for my newest pattern - - -
Starbright Stars!
Once upon a time, ten whole years ago, I created my first Starbright Stars scrappy star quilt - - -
And you have been asking for the pattern ever since.
Because here is what’s special about this: the stars are completely machine pieced! This patchwork is sewn without any y-seams or fiddly techniques. All you need is the basic angled patchwork sewing skills included in the pattern and - bam - stars are born!
Do you love sewing scrap quilts? Me too! I have already sewn three versions based on scraps. My first Starbright Stars quilt was a rainbow scrap quilt, with each star featuring a target color. The background fabrics were a variety of low volume fabrics, which is scrap and stash-friendly.
I’ve made two more scrappy Starbrights, each one with a monochromatic color scheme. I wonder, have you created a monochromatic quilt before? Or are you worried that it might come out simple and dull? In this level 2 Color Mentor pattern, I teach you how to use variation to create a visually engaging monochromatic quilt.
Yes, Starbright Stars is a great way to immerse yourself in the nuances of a single focal color. But Starbright Stars is a very flexible pattern. It is excellent as a scrap quilt OR can serve to showcase a special fabric collection.
Looking for a worthy pattern for that amazing fabric stack? You can make each star of a single fabric, as I did with Autumn Fading Starbright Stars. I wonder, which one will I choose for my next Starbright Stars quilt: a scrap quilt or a collection quilt? A quilt-along is coming this September!
Stars - they’re endlessly charming, right? This layout exudes such a happy energy. The pattern was for me love at first sight and I have a feeling you’re feeling the same way. On Wednesday I’ll talk more about the sew-along and gear up for a kick-off giveaway. You can get started now by reading through the first few pages of the pattern, and contemplating if you’ll opt for a scrappy monochromatic quilt, a scrappy rainbow quilt or a fabric stack quilt - - - or even something in between. As always, I’m eager to see what you sew!
Sew-Along Coming Soon!
Check back Wednesday for the sew-along master post. We get started September 4th! Until then you can - - -
