My Designs + a Prize

Happy Sunday! I am flying back to The Netherlands today from the United States. It was a good time to reconnect with family and friends. Even if the weather was shockingly hot and humid, South Carolina is a beautiful state. I am looking forward to unwinding back home and starting a new quilt soon.

Cloudflower

day no. 8 in #30DaysofQuiltdesign

This one would be prettiest in a 3 x 3 setting, rather than the 2 x 2 setting I’ve sketched. I would use a consistent background fabric so that the flowers seem to float. I like the interesting diamond shapes that develop between the cloudflowers and the connecting sashing/stripes..

I loved sewing these whirly blocks for the first #pennysamplerquilt. It would be fun to sew them again using magic number quilt block sizes for a fun, random layout. I sketched the smallest blocks as hourlgass blocks and some big hourglass blocks as well. This would be a fun quilt to sew!

Cheshire daze

This one is so visually disorienting, but has many interesting elements. I would find the process of sewing it in solids too boring, so I would use some black prints. With the prints I could highlight the hexagon shapes and some secondary stars or stripes. Are you getting dizzy?
